10 Ways to use your Holiday Lights in the Summer

Here at traditions, we love lights.  And as much as we love our landscape displays, holiday lights will always hold a special place in our hearts. Summer peeking around the corner means most of our lights are snug in their storage bins, hibernating till the next winter season. And while we are generally hardliners for the no holiday lights up all year round rule, we have a handful of small exceptions.  Ten to be exact.

  1. Most of the lights that we are A-OK with all year use are the 5-millimeter lights, or the traditional tree light. Most of our clients end up having a pretty sizable amount of white lights for their holiday display. Why not let us branch wrap a tree in your backyard so you can enjoy it all year round?

2. If you don’t have enough to do a whole tree or have a few trees that you would like to highlight, give this look a try. It makes for a perfectly cozy place to spend a peaceful, lazy afternoon.

  1. Most lights wouldn’t last five minutes on a volleyball net if you could even get them attached without half of the lights going out. Ours, though? Bring that serve on. Our top notch quality means that not only are they bright enough to light up the court, but strong enough to take a few hits.

  1.  This is perfect for those few hours of dusk before the dark really sets in. Plug your lights in and you get a perfect glow that gives a little boost of visibility and extends playtime just a bit longer.

  1. This technique is almost identical to the way that we decorate during the holiday season, but the feel is entirely different. When you take your lights down for a few months and then change their location, it gives an entirely different feel to the product. If we are lucky, the snow will have even completely melted by the time we put them up for the second time!

  1. If you find you don’t have any of the five-millimeter lights, don’t be afraid to use some of the C7 or C9 lights to really spruce up a patio tree. The bigger bulbs mean more light and bigger spacing, so the effect is completely different.

  1. This would take a little bit more product than most of our clients have for their holiday displays, but the additions would really be worth it to bring a garden to life.

  1. Grapevine balls are all the decor rage right now and we are not immune to their vintage appeal.  We offer a few different sizes of vine balls that are made in shop with local vines. All of them would be the perfect addition to a patio or yard and can be filled with lights you already have!

  1. We think looks like this are too cute. With a careful eye for detail, we can warp your deck or porch in some of your five-millimeter lights to make the perfect glowing addition to any decor.

  1. This is one of our permanent displays, but we can easily make this look work for the tree in your backyard. To get more light bang for your buck, we recommend starting the lights lower down on the tree. That way you can really get the full effect of all the lights.

Don’t let your lights sit over the summer! It doesn’t have to be cold out to have a great light display in your yard.
