Landscape

New Glarus, WI

As lovers of the outdoors, our team at Traditions are always excited to work on projects such as this one located in New Glarus, WI. Our client came to us with already having some low voltage landscape lighting in their backyard. Not just any backyard though. Our clients had a relaxing space to truly enjoy outdoor living with a functional stone fire pit and a beautiful water feature that led to a Koi pond. After a long day of work, this was the place to be.

The existing system was made up of FX Luminaire fixtures and included several uplights, spread lights, and water feature lights. All of which were halogen lamps at the time. Our client’s request… extend the landscape lighting to the front and side of the home. As we do in almost all existing systems we come across, we decided to upgrade the entire project to all LED lamps. From there, we could easily expand the display and add new lights, even with them being several hundred feet away from the power source.

We focused on adding uplighting to several trees around the property. Multiple pear trees, two beautiful Japanese maple trees, and a clump of large birch trees is where we decided to place the uplights. Project complete! Well, almost. After a couple months of enjoying the lights, our client reached out again, wanting to add a few more lights, this time to the back of the home. Because we originally updated all the landscape lighting to LED, adding more lights was not a problem.

With phase two of the project being smaller, all we needed to add was a few floodlights and one additional uplight. Floodlighting was chosen specifically for the purpose of using a less bright, wider angle of light to shine towards a set of bushes that are no more than five to six feet tall. With phase two complete, our client could walk around the entire home at night and see beautiful landscape lighting throughout every side.

Project complete now? Not quite. After the following winter season, our client showed interest in our outdoor audio system, Sonarray. After a free demo of the product, we were able to move forward with the install. With this being phase three of the total outdoor living project, it really was the finale our client was looking for. Beautiful landscape features and lighting, the comfort of a warm fire, and the sound from high-quality landscape speakers made this backyard one of the best outdoor living spaces we’ve had the pleasure of being around. Being positioned in the country with acres of land, there isn’t a single other light to be seen or sound to be heard.
